Is my Arab a pony or a horse? Pics included?

Okay so I have a retarded question... sorry xD So my question is, I recently rescued a bay Arabian, he is 14.2 hand high and like is he considered a pony or a horse? I think a horse cause Arabs range from 14.2 hands to about 15 hands high. So thanks for the help! (P.s. I have some pictures but we just rescued him so he is fairly skinny and beat up.)

^Ahh he is a natural at jumping xD Yes I know my jump isnt the best... PVC pipe and bricks... Lol.

Update:

So I could show him as a horse and I could also go to Pony Clubs with him? And "Horsiegirly" Thank you, I caught him in the right moment for the picture... usually he doesnt stand still :D Yes, Arabs are my FAVORITE breed!

Update 2:

Okay, so he may get bigger cause he is only 5 years old?

It's going to depend....Traditional, old-style Arabians are, in fact small horses ranging in size from just over 14 to just over 15 hands. They ARE considered a "horse" rather than "pony breed, so if you were showing him in Arabian classes, he'd be a horse. However' the generic term "pony" refers to any horse 14.2 or under. Therefore, he would still qualify for "pony hunter" classes if you were interested in showing him in open hunter rather than breed association shows.

I had a similar question about my Morab who is 14 hands. My trainer said that he is considered a horse, because Arabians and Morgans are both horses.

She explained it this way. Halflingers are often way under 14.2 hands, however they are always called horses, never ponies.

Though for a class in a show that had a height restriction you could probably show him. Pony vs. horse classes isn't so much about the breed of the animal and more about the size, after all it wouldn't make sense for a 17hh to be competing against a 12 hh.

He is a horse because of his breed(Arabian) but he could be a pony(14.2) if he were a different breed.

So in short; Yes, he is a horse ;)

GASP! I LOVEEE the first picture! the second one is cute too, but oohhh I love arabs :))

    EDIT::

I saw a pic of when your horse was skinny. ouch :( I'm glad he's better now. My horse was way worse. I literally think he would have died in the next like week if he hadn't been rescued. I <3 him to death even though he's sometimes a loser :D

For his size he could be a pony, but his breed makes him a horse.. there are no Arabian ponies.

Because he is an arabian, technically he is a horse.

You could show him as a horse(because he is one)

I don't know about the pony club thing... you might? im guessing...

because of his breed, he is considered a horse... but i guess he could also be considered a pony because ponies are 14.2hands and under.

    omg...

my dream horse is an arabian who is amazing at jumping...

    lol

    i love arabians

the first picture was random, i open it up and...

BAM! he is right there, smack in the middle of the pic

He's a pony. Horses are 14.3hh and up. I doubt he'll get taller. He's already five. He'll fill out and mature more, but it's unlikely that he'll get much taller.

My first horse was the same way. By blood and on paper, he was a horse (Appaloosa), but by height he was a pony. He was only 14.1hh.

It's a Horse of course. Anything 14.2 hh or better is considered a horse, less than 14.2 is a pony.

14.2 and under is pony sized. He's still technically a horse because of his breed, but his size is pony sized.

well, 14.2 hands and below is considered pony. so, i guess he is a pony!

    Happy Trails!

EDIT::::: no he is done growing. they usually stop growing around 3-3 1/2 years. he is done growing! he is very handsome!
