Why do people answer questions they know nothing about?

Some are just posting referral links to Amazon.com so they can get a kickback if someone buys. These 'answers' are rarely an attempt to actually answer the question.

I'm sure that several people have numerous accounts for spreading this. Some are even getting a little smarter. They are also asking questions that ask something like "where can I get ???? cheap". Then they answer their own question with an Amazon Spam answer from other accounts. This way, they try to appear 'legitimate'.

I report these as spam any chance I get. Pretty good success rate at getting the answers removed immediately.

Often it is just for the points.

Answers

An answer has to answer the question which is asked, with no abuse or insults and on the subject.

If they fail that then they are a violation and should be reported.

They can’t be reported if the information is just incorrect.

They want points, and figure someone has already answered it, might as well give a little more info.

They don't really care what they do. It's gone once they turn off the screen.

Because of this --->Answering earns you 2 points. You can answer 38 questions today.

This bugs me too that they do this!!! It's rude and incourteous and they don't care a thing what you think of them either. Many of them should get thrown out and some of them who cause problems continually and have been reported dozens of times are still in here being a pest.

Because ANY answer ... good, bad, correct, incorrect, relevant or not is worth ... 2 points.

There is NO penalty for giving a bad or wrong answer. As long as there is no penalty for half-@$$ing, users will continue to answer just for points.

If the answer does not answer the question THAT WAS ASKED, report it for point gaming.

If i was a level 2 i would vote for kiki's answer.
