I can't remember the names of these three comets.?
1) during one of the Apollo missions, there was a comet in the sky. The astronauts took a number of photographs of it. Which mission was it, and what was it's name.
2) about 1994 or 1996, there were two very beautiful comets in the sky in different years. Can anyone remember the names, and exactly which years? One was in the spring, visible in the Northern Hemisphere in March or April. The other one, I don't remember the time of year.
Thanks.
Hi, Geoff,
Of course, now that you tell me the names, I remember. Murphy's Law. Thanks for the references.
I remember Kohoutek. I don't think that is the one I am looking for. Maybe. I have to do more digging. If I can find it, I'll get back to you.

1) I'm not aware of any comets photographed by Apollo astronauts. Perhaps you are thinking of observations of Comet Kohoutek made by astronauts aboard NASA's SkyLab space station in 1973.
2) These were Comet Hyakutake in 1996 and Comet Hale-Bopp in 1997.
