How to deal with drug induced enemies?

I'm talking about anyone from a drunk to a psycho on an acid trip. If negotiations have failed and they wish you harm, how does it change the fight if they are under some kind of influence?

I've already heard of people not stopping to broken shoulders because they were high and didn't feel a lot of pain. Right now I would plan on choking them unconscious but after some of the stories I've heard, I'm starting to second guess how it would go down.

Answers from people with experience would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Physical harm doesn't do anything. I know. They are painless. Psychologically they are open to suggestion. Tell them they are your friend. I'm your buddy. Don't ever say I won't hurt you, cuz all they will hear is I'll hurt you. "Come on" is always a good phrase to use. "hay man come on" is also a good phrase. Be Passive. "Come on Stop it, it is me." "Don't say I'm here to help you" they don't want help. Say "Man Come on I'm here man". Act like you are gonna cry, when you are saying it. They will give in. Act like you care about there problems without sounding like you are bullcrapping them. They are after all human beings. If that don't work, Take them down to the ground. Ground usually makes them Know who is on top, which is you. Get off and let them up again. If they insist again. Send them to the ground again to let them know who is dominating them. The best fight is won that never occures.

Someone who is psycho or whacked out on drug is not going to feel any kind of pain you can inflict on him. His brain simply will not process any of the pain impulses and he is going to be many time stronger than you, so I'm not so sure you want to get into grappling to put a choke hold on him. Chances are even if you succeeded you will be forced to break his neck because he will be struggling so violently that you will not have a choice. I seriously doubt you want to put yourself in the kind of spot.

If it were me and I have absolutely no choice but to fight such an attacker, then I would blind him - takeout the eyes and/or destroy the knee(s) so I can run for it. But the best solution is NOT find yourself in this very bad predicament. Always be aware of your surrounding for possible exits and escape routes. This is not paranoia but everyday precautions that most people are too lazy to take into consideration. For example, when you get on a plane, you need to know where are the exits so you can get out in case of an emergency. When you are driving, you have to have a plan B in case some idiot does something dangerous that may get you kill. When you are in a store or a high-rise building, you need to know where are the fire escapes in case the place gets robbed or a fire happens.

the simplest method without causing injury to them is pepper spray.

pepper spray is classified as an inflammatory agent and will immediately incapacitate. it inflammation of the capillaries of the eyes and skin causing temporary blindness, nausea, breathing difficulties and an intense burning sensation.

it has been proven effective on people even under the influence of drugs. unlike mace which would be ineffective.
