Had my gallbladder removed?
I had been suffering really bad pain off and on for a while and was finally diagnosed with gallstones (actually pancreatitis caused by gallstones) so I had keyhole surgery to have my gallbladder removed a few days ago. I am home now and doing fine, but can't drive or lift anything for a while. I still have a sore throat from the breathing tube they put in and get shoulder pain from the trapped gases. Apart from that I am doing ok...
Anyway, is there anyone else here that has had their gallbladder removed? Did you have to change your diet at all? I was told I had to be careful of fatty foods as they could leave me on the toilet for a while.
Thanks in advance.

My gallbladder was removed in 2008 but they never said I have to avoid fatty foods completely. Though then again, gallstones can return to bile ducts anyway, so thinking with a common sense, one has to be careful even after gallbladder removal and not eat too much fatty foods, only occasional treats every now and then. The fat from the food does cause slight diarrhoea because it does not absorb as well as with the gallbladder in place, and of course it is not very good idea to be visiting the toilet all the time.

I had my gallbladder removed last year. I wasn't told to change my diet and haven't. Although I do try to eat right and get regular exercise.
My gallbladder was pretty inflamed when it was removed, so I went through a lot of antibiotics in the hospital and for another week after leaving. Those messed with my intestines pretty well. A month after stopping the antibiotics everything was pretty much back to normal.
Everyone is different, but you shouldn't need to change your diet because of this procedure.
