I have a question about Vash the Stampede?

I read that his hair turns dark as he uses Angel Arm continuously.. Why does it do that? I need a good, thorough answer if you can.. Oh and why is that not in the anime? Or is it? I am in absolutely utter curiosity.

I'M SO CONFUZZLED! HA.

I love this anime however :D
