Which life is better?

Which life is better, having a job where you feel excitement and challenge (in this case, joining the army) Or having a job which lacks that excitement (in this case I.T field like software developer) but earns you a lot of money to have excitement in other areas i guess.

So either fun at what you do, or bored with what u do but your really good at it and earn a lot of money.

Which would you prefer?

I prefer having the Job that is fun! People think that being rich is all fun and games, but if you are unhappy at your job day after day you will be unhappy and just spend your money on crap you don't need. Having a job you like and enjoy doing day after day is way more important for your overall health.

I'd say it's your decision, however coming from a military family if you knew what we go through praying and waiting to hear if you're ok, is very trying for us. I am the only one that didn't join; made it through my first run at MEPS but decided against it last minute. My brother was a small arms specialist disarming land mines in Iraq. It would take 6+ weeks to hear from him while he was away on an "extended" tour- the army lied and said he'd return after 6 months; he returned after 18 months. He was so proud of himself when he returned but disappointed, the fear of not coming back caused him not to re-inlist. I opted to take the money I was to use for my education and invested in real estate. Now, after just 2 very short years, I moved from PA to live in FL, own 2 rental properties which give me the financial freedom to travel and do as I wish. You can still have the excitement of seeing new places, people and experiences with that high paying IT job. The only thing I can suggest is that you love what you do, whatever it is.

In order to be happy with your job, you need three things...

    1. some say in what you do

    2. change in what you do from day to day

    3. see the awesome results of your hard work

I never found a construction worker that truly hated their job because they can drive past a huge building or house and say "I helped create that!".
