Is there a way to strip lyrics from a song?

I want the instrumental version of a song so is there any kind of program that can strip the vocals from a song and leave just the instrumental?

    It would probably just be easier to try and find the karaoke version of the song, that normally has most if not all of the lyrics stripped...

    any software that removes vocals will also mess up the music
