Memory Card Error on Panasonic Lumix...?

I just bought a new 16GB SD Memory Card, which works perfectly on my Sony Cybershot W350, but doesn't work on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30. It keeps saying "Memory Card Error, please check the card". The original card that came with the Panasonic camera is 32MB and that works perfectly. I also used a 2GB one, which I lost, which worked perfectly.

So, the card is working, and the camera is working, but both together don't work together.

I tried formatting it to everything that was available (exFAT, NTFS, and FAT32) but none of them solved the problem either.

Any solutions to that please?

Ideally you would not use a memory card in different cameras, as it's recommended to FORMAT the card the first time you put it in a camera. Simpler to keep a seperate card for each camera.

The 16 Gb card is a SDHC card which, as the Ace pointed out, is not supported by the FZ30 - ( 2GB maximum is a surprise, but true )

Remember to format the card in the camera it's being used in, NOT a computer.

Hi There what you need to do is when you put the card into the Camera for the first time, you would have to format it, as it might have some data from another camera on it, I have a samsung ES67 and a Fujifilm S1600 and neither of those cards work in each camera unless they are formatted .

    I hope this helps

I had this same issue and looked for answers. I reformatted my card and tried a few. Then I read (that this is in the users manual) that the FZ30 doesn't take any cards larger than 2GB. I tried an old 33mb card and it worked. So I think this is correct and you have to keep a few 2GB cards on hand.
