My Hood on my 2000 Jeep Cherokee keeps popping open?
I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. The drive side Hood Latch keeps popping open when I hit a bump. I have to push the release in and push it back down. BUT next i hit a bump it pops back up. I am just worried that the center latch is gonna pop open and have the hood fly back. Any help at all to which I should replace or quick suggestions on how to help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Have you tried adjusting the positioning of the latch and the catch. Only other fix would be to replace if worn out. Or use hood pins, if for some reason you can't get it to stay closed.

The hood must be frozen close so supply it a pair of employer faucets the place the latch is and it ought to pop open. The latch has released and the hood has moved up sufficient to permit slack interior the cable. Thats the common/low priced restoration if that dont paintings... Your hood latch cable broke you could take it to a broker and characteristic them do what would be interior the subsequent area or do it your self and pay for a sparkling latch which you install. i don't be attentive to the e book for exertions on a hood latch yet a million.5 hours plus areas sounds honest. pass to a jeep broker and purchase a sparkling cable equipment first. Get under the vechical with a flash mild and a few tin snips(highley recomended) shine the flash mild on the latch and hint the cable back to the 1st bracket protecting the cable. ok attain up and grab the cable(between the latch and the bracket) and pull down as much as you could the cable ought to slip by no remember if that's broke on the different end. Then cut back the cable/plastic conceal with the tin snips as some distance back as obtainable. Slide the plastic conceal off and jerk the cable in the direction of the drivers fender(having somebody pull up on the hood in case you're doing this helps). The hood will open if it does not tug on the cable till it does. pass interior the vechical and get rid of the screws protecting the old pull handel in place. persist with the old cable to the element the place you narrow back it and pull the cable for the period of the brackets protecting the cable being careful to no longer wreck them(they might have a screw that holds them close)back to the handel then pull the handel and pull something of the cable some foot by. Then cut back the cable(on the interior the motor vehicle a foot from the handel). Get the recent cable and tie the tip to the old cable so it wont come off. pass under the hood and pull the old cable that's hooked as much as the recent cable for the period of the firewall gromet. pass to the latch area and push the cable in the direction of the latch and characteristic the little end come off the latch hook. connect the cable to the cable brackets and connect the recent cable end to the latch. And your achieved. Goodluck.
