My clothes dryer vents outdoors now I have lint in the garden?

I have problems with my clothes dryer venting outside and there's a bunch of dryer lint in the garden now - why is it doing this and how do I stop it? It's a newer dryer less than 2 years old. We clean the lint trap every occasion we use it. Ideas?

Update:

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate the ideas - the dryer is in the basement and the vent is 8' above the dryer and we live in Alberta, Canada so water trap doesn't really do the trick (winter et all) but I will find another filter of some kind to trap the lint so it's not in the garden at least!

Your lint system is working good and is blowing lint out of the dryer area through the 4" pipe that runs through your wall to the outside..;.it blows out limt; thats what you want. you may need to tie a large porus cloth bag over the vent exit if yoiu want to trap the lint so you can bag and tag it for the trash!

On the outside of your house is a vent where the lint exits. Go to any hardware store and buy a $2 strainer bag from the paint section. Place it over the exit vent and secure it with 3 small screws. It will still allow the lint to pass freely but the strainer bag will catch all of the lint. Empty when needed and place it back over the vent

Dryer Lint Do-Nots: Yep, do nots, not donuts. I've seen some really silly suggestions for using dryer lint. All kidding aside, dryer lint is very flammable. It catches fire very easily and burns very well -- so DO NOT use dryer lint to stuff toys or crafts, puff out appliques, or make pillows. It is soft and fluffy, and compacts well, but dryer lint is not a substance that you want surrounding you in a quilt or on a sofa, nor do you want your grandkids hugging a teddy bear stuffed with one of the world's best fire starters.

i really dont know what to tell you because every dryer i have ever had has done this to some extent. if your getting a lot of lent i would clean the lint trap area with a brush or vaccum cleaner. there may be some lint built up somewhere not letting the filter go all the way down to catch the lint. good luck.

if the lint didn't get to the garden it would be clogging your exhaust. The lint needs to get out so it does not cause other problems for and damage your dryer. Every dryer will blow lint out the exhaust. covering the vent restricts air flow causing longer dry times and higher bills.

How high up off the ground is the vent exit? If it's low to the ground, place a shallow heavy dish under the vent, keep water in it. The water will trap the lint. Dispose of lint when it becomes full. Refill with water. You could strap a nylon stocking over the vent end, securing it with either a hose clamp or a zip-tie. When the stocking becomes clogged, remove and replace. Ladies nylon stockings come in a variety of colors. If you want green so it blends with the vegetation color or tan because that's the color of the structure surrounding the vent.

This may sound crazy, take a old pare of pantie hose and wrap it around the outside vent to

ketch the lint from going in your garden. it works on washers to ketch lint from clogging up the

drains why not save the garden.
