is there a childrens' bible that helps children understand the bible?
my 8 year old was trying to read mine but like many adults, the This, Thous, and Thus's are a bit much. Do they have a childrens bible available that is age appropriate for kids to understand?

There are many childrens bibles, check any large book store like Borders or Barnes & Noble. Or Amazon.com.

Yes, there are many, although they seem to lean very heavily on the OT stories, and kind of miss the Theological messages.
My daughter loves Manga, the Japanese style graphic novels. Her godparents have her a Manga Bible. I had a look at it, and it looked pretty good. Not only that, but, it really appealed to my daughter as well.
Manga might be a bit advanced for an 8 year old, but, something to look at anyway.

Yes. I would reccomend The Living Bible or an illustrated Bible in color.
