answer only if you have a pug?

i've heard pugs are wonderful dogs and i'm really considering it. how much do they shed??? long ago i had a shedding dog, and i just didnt do too well with the hair ordeal. i always felt like it was everywhere. couldnt stand to eat, etc. hair on my clothes, the furniture, you get the point. i've heard they shed, but i could stand a little, just not a lot. it doesnt bother some people, but it's hard for me to get past. really love the breed, really want one.

Update:

wow that was fast. thanks for all the insight everyone. i would love, love, love to have one. but hair freaks me out. i know it's weird. i'm a nurse, and i've been covered in blood, and everything else imaginable, but hair gets me. thanks for all of the fast insight.

I have English Bulldogs and they shed, A lot of their shedding has to do with many things, The weather, Hormones, Diet. and sometimes they shed lightly and other times heavily. So it depends.

All dogs that shed will do the same thing. So if hair does bother you I would not get one. I know you like the breed but the shedding comes with it. There are a lot of dogs that do not, and you might consider one of them, but if you decided on a pug, you will fall in love with him and probably make an exception and as time goes by, you might even get used to it.

Here is a list of dogs that do not shed. http://www.vetinfo.com/dogs-hair-fur.html

Good Luck. And I hope you do get a Pug.

Pugs shed A LOT! I work for a veterinarian and we see quite a few pugs, they shed so much, my suggestion would be to find a breed like a poodle that does not shed very much if hair is an issue. We had a pug come into the clinic today and it looked like it was shaved with how much hair was left on the floor and exam table. They are nice dogs but shed a lot!

Pugs are just SO much fun! Everyone warned me how much they shed, but I had a wolf before my pugs, so to me what they shed is comparatively nothing and at least their fur is short. My entire life is now covered in pug hair, but they are SO worth it! Daily brushing helps, but I really don't think there is any avoiding it. If this is a major issue for you, and it sounds like it is, perhaps a pug would not be a good choice. Another option is there are pugs in rescues that have lost their fur to skin problems or fire. If you adopted one of them you could have the fun of a pug without the shedding and you would be giving a dog that would be hard to place a home. Win win!

They shed like crazy! But brushing every couple days helps a lot.

I'm kind of going against your rule here, but I have a friend who owns a pug and have researched, and they do shed a LOT. If you don't want a dog that sheds much, I discourage you from getting one.

Also, please rescue, don't get from a breeder, or worse, a puppy mill. There are so many loveable young and old dogs at shelters who need homes.
