Any Baseball Fans play or ever played the game Stratomatic? If so is it a good game to play?

I can't believe i didn't hear of this game before until hearing about the game on Radio when someone was being interviewed about how the game was made & how it's still popular today. Only thing i really know about the game is that it's in Board Game & now online as well. Anyone has played this game & if so did you like it? -> http://www.strat-o-matic.com/products/baseball

Yes I am an avid player of the game, and I love it. I have played it online and in person, but think it is much better in person. It it uses different versions, basic, advanced, and super advanced, so that beginners, and experienced players have challenges. It is also very accurate, as it uses real lefty-righty splits, and statistics, to accurately portray performance. As I teen, i prefer to play this board game over MLB the Show, even as I have grown up in a society with video games, that is how good it is. If I were you, I would definitely buy it.

Wow - I didn't know it was still being made. I guess I figured with all the computer stuff out there people couldn't be bothered with someone like a board game.

I did play it a bit in my younger days, and enjoyed it. But I actually preferred a similar game that I had that was put out by Sports Illustrated. Similar concept, but the players were all members of the HOF. So you could have an outfield of Ruth, Aaron and Mays for example, or you could have Brooks Robinson making a throw to Lou Gehrig, or see what would happen if Sandy Koufax faced Ty Cobb. It also had a fielding factor built into it as well.

I know that don;t make it anymore, but might be worth digging around to see if there are any of them left.

Once when I was a teenager around '86 or '87. It was a fun game for serious baseball fans. I remember there was a lot of strategy involved interpreting statistics and making managerial moves and that it was a thinking persons game. With so many video games out now I am surprised that it is still around.

If you're looking for something more strategic and nuanced than a video game, Strat-O-Matic is the way to go. I always preferred the actual game (as opposed to the computer version). It takes about 20 minutes to play, but it's worth it. There's a real sense of control as a manager.

I've played it a lot with my family. Its a really fun and enjoyable game. I can tell you from experience of playing at least a hundred times in 2010 that it never gets old. It's kind of a dice-board game. It has its own originality.

My dad grew up playing it with all the player stat cards, we played a computerized version in the very early 90's. Takes a lot of time but it's a lot of fun if its done right. problem is these days you can buy MLB 2K11, actually see what your players are doing and have a small shot at a million bucks.

Yep, started playing Strat-O-Matic baseball, football and basketball back in the late 60's

The baseball and football are great fun, and accurate, I don't care too much for the basketball.

If you're a baseball nut, you won't be sorry.

e-bay has tons of Strat-O-Matic stuff
