Will inflation end Obama's chance for a second term?
Gas is approaching five dollars, food is increasing daily and the reason is running the printing presses 24/7 pumping money into the economy to hide the disastrous effects of his lack of an economic policy.
If it gets to the point a working man can't feed his family all the finger pointing in the world won't save his presidency.
These answers fascinate me. I think the cause of this general cluelessness is the result of dumbing down and the politicization of education over the past forty years. To paraphrase a great American who himself was paraphrasing; "you don't know what you don't know". :)

Commodity prices????? There's still one more liberal that has no idea what inflation is and what causes it.
When commodity prices, relative to each other, don't change much ( and they haven't) but retail prices do, you can be assured that the government is the cause, NOT private enterprise.

He blew his chance for a second-term within the first 180 days of his presidency.
I will admit here that, before the Presidential primaries, I was taken by Obama's rhetoric of 'Hope' and 'Change'. In spite of his vastly liberal record, I truly felt that he just might have been the one candidate who could've stirred up enough shіt in D.C. to get the rest of those congressional bastards off of their collective lazy αsses and get America moving again.
By the start of the primaries, however, I realized that Obama was just another charlatan politician so I quickly reversed political gears. Perhaps if others had seen Obama for what he really was, and is, we wouldn't be where we are right now. Granted, I don't believe McCain could have solved some of the problems we are now witnessing, but I am confident in my opinion that we would be in better shape had Obama not hoodwinked his way into the Oval Office.
What's done is done, however, and I've never been one to cry over spilt milk.
I will predict, here and now, that Obama will not be re-elected for a second term. He's like a narcissistic dinosaur, - so enamored by his reflection in the tar-pit that he doesn't see the danger it presents.
If he hasn't stumbled into that tar-pit by 2012, then I'm almost certain the American people will push him into it come November of that year, and rightfully so.

Inflation didn't hurt Bush any and for a good portion of his administration inflation was much higher. 1986 was the only year during the Reagan administration when inflation was lower than what it is now.
Is it the highest its been since the end of 2009? Yes. Is it high compared to reality? No. When you pull your head out of the clouds and look at the real world and not Glenn Beck's magickal phantasy world its pretty low still.
Gas prices are high right now, but no higher than they were during the last few months of Bush's administration.

The economy always seems to play a significant role in any election - and a poor economy can easily negate a candidates incumbency. A lot will depend on how successful they are at convincing the people that the "statistics" and "polls" that they commission are accurate and a true picture of the economy.
For instance, when I see a poll that essentially says that unemployment is down followed by another poll that says people applying for unemployment benefits is up.......well, how do you digest those two mutually exclusive bits of information?

Brown favor each and each and every GOP voter and over 70% of the independents to vote for him to have a threat of prevailing. so some distance you in reality listen of help for him from GOP. The Dems outnumber the GOP 3 to at least a million. So don't be too powerful Brown has received yet. If Obama's reform equipment fails it in reality brings you one step in route of a real insurrection on the floor as voters lose faith of their skill to win needed variations through the pollbox.

Try and understand that inflation is a world wide problem, and Obama cannot cure it in isolation for the USA.Considering he took over an economy in tatters, the Americans must give another term to deliver. After all there are no viable alternatives. I am sure you don't want to jump from what you consider the frying pan into the fire.

gas is expensive... but that's not really due to his economic policies... demand is up in the world... prices rise...
you may have a point about the working man blaming Obama for it though, but a con isn't going to do anything any differently... what's he going to do? stop printing money and jack up intrest rates so no one can buy a house or car? will the working man like that more?

Printing presses, eh?
Well, I don't know if Obama will be re-elected. But even figuring worst-case scenario, inflation won't be bad enough to affect his election chances. Bigger concerns would be the unemployment rate, and housing foreclosures.

Things like the drilling moratorium and the rise in food prices from diversion of crops to bogus fuel programs are easy enough to blame on Bush. Obama can take full advantage of the stupidity of the American people.
