What was the number of axis and allied troops in World War 2?

I just want this information for comparison purposes, but can't seem to find it anywhere! Please if you know more many please tell me, and provide the link for the site you got it from. If possible can you also list any other assets to compare, like tanks and ships, etc.

Ok, to be honest, I really don't know ...

I think you're best chances of finding out how many would be to

    1) Find out the main forces involved on each side

    2) Find out how many DIVISIONS they had in their armies

    Do a basic calculation.

I think that's your best chance to find out - it's not likely there will be exact troop numbers, but the forces are often talked about in division numbers. Be careful though cause i know that with nations such as Australia, they weren't numbered 1 up. They started at 6 I think because in ww1 there were 5.

    Hope this helps

In Europe the amount of allies were about 2.5 to 4 million troops. They were from almost any country. As for the axis I say it would be around 3 million troops. So in total it would probably be 7 million troops in WWII but this only in the Europe theater. Their many more troops fighting Far in the east in Japan.
