94 geo tracker starting issue?

i dont understand what your saying... it will only start if u spray starting fluid in it and it runs after that?? or are u saying it will only run till u stop spraying fluid in it... if ur saying it runs till u shut it off... then id say basicly yours might be loosing its prime every time u shut it off so it takes a minute for the gas to build back up in your line so it will just crank and crank and crank then your spraying starter fluid in it same as priming it so it starts by the fluid and then it runs cause by time its running out of fluid it has gas up there to run with, try this... pump your gas pedal like 5 to 10 times then crank it over s couple times then pump the gas again like 5 then turn the engine over like upto 5 times it should start up. u might have to give a lil more gas but dont pump it too much. only other thing might be is maybe ur spark plugs are pretty much fouled? and the starter fluid is extremely flamable but once its running it just has heat built up so it lets it run. id not bet on that one though haha that was dumb for me to say idk why i said it sorry.
