Riding lawn mower problem.....?
I have a Bolens mtd riding lawn mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine. The engine is locked up I can't turn the flywheel or motor pulley at all. I accidentally did a oil change and did not put enough oil in so it locked up. so i was wondering if there was a way to unlock it. I heard you can put oil down the spark plug hole and turn the mower blade back and forth and it would unlock but my blades turn freely already. So is there a way I can unseize the engine without taking it to a shop or having a rebuild? Any help would be nice.

Look where the starter motor turns the flywheel, their is the ring gear teeth just put a large screw driver inti a tooth and it may leaver around a bit either way. If you took the cover off the top where the fly wheel is you may get a punch onto a solid part of the ring gear and give it a shark hit. I have done this and it worked. But careful you do not want to break anything. Careful where you put punch, not on ring gear. It some times just needs a little to just get it started. Good luck.

remove the cylinder head , gently hit a block of wood against the piston and then use lots of oil to lube things , then put it back together and if it works your good , if the piston is at the bottom of the cylinder you'll need to ask again, btw it should stop smoking after about 1 minute

If you are saying you ran the engine on low oil and it seized then it is ruined even if you can get it to turn over

unless it is some really old model there isn't a direct drive on the blades so that won't turn the engine.
