Any chances at an Ivy League school?

My school is small, and we don't have that many AP's offered to us. In total I think we have 5?

But we do have honors classes for English and History/Global classes.

We don't have an IB program either.

My school isn't that great, but it's the only one in our town. Does going to a small school hurt my chances?

*My school also DOESN'T weigh gpa's. So it is what is no matter what.

-Several people have said to get into an ivy league, you need at LEAST a 4.3 gpa, but how am i supposed to get that average, if it's literally impossible? We go on a 4.0 scale.

Update:

Oh, and i have another question... If I take classes at a local university (SUNY Albany) over the summer, does that help me on applications?

Btw i'm going to list my stats:

I expect to have a 3.8-3.9 gpa UNWEIGHED.

SAT and ACT scores aren't known because i haven't taken them =P

Extra curriculars:

STEP (science technology entry program) (since I was in 7th grade)

Marching Band- played clarinet since 5th grade

Robotics club (just started this year, plan on staying in it

Science Club- started this year, plan on staying in it.

Art Club- started this year, plan on staying in it.

Medical Explorers- started this year; plan on staying in it.

I'm going to start volunteering over the summer, and I really plan on volunteering at least 200 hours at the hospital near by.

*I want to major in Biochemistry and then maybe go on to medical school.

-Even though i'm not applying to med school right now (obviously), would shadowing a doctor look good on applications?

I really have a passion for

Update 2:

Lol i just realized what I was saying was cut short. :P

As i was saying...

I really have a passion for science, especially chemistry, and I plan on stressing that on my application/ interview/ maybe even the essay.

Also another thing I have to say:

My freshman year didnt go as well I wish it did. I got a C+ in Honors Global and an 83 in Honors English. I also got 2 B's in band and Spanish 2. However my average was a 90, because my grades in Biology and Algebra were very high. Could those bad grades hinder my acceptance into any Ivy Leagues?

***btw, I'm hispanic/Latina. I'm full Puerto Rican.

Please tell me what you think! (:

Thanks!

It's difficult to gauge since you haven't taken a standardized test. With your GPA, you're a little on the lower end, but it's not bad at all. You're going to want at least a 33 or higher on the ACT and a 2250 or better on the SAT to keep competitive. Also, and possibly most importantly, you need some leadership positions in these clubs. These colleges want to see that you excel in and out of the classroom.

Colleges ask for unweighted GPAs. Saying you need at least a 4.3 is meaningless; at some schools that's not possible, and at other schools it's a low GPA. Weighted GPAs are meaningless. Since you don't have many options for advanced classes, if you can do well in college classes, that would help your application. Your activities are fine for most schools, but won't make you stand out for a top school. Based on all this, you shouldn't be aiming for an ivy. And you don't need one. The med school you attend matters far more than undergrad, and you can take the premed classes at any 4-year college or university. A state school would be fine.
