U.S. Military Anyone Else Feel Insulted by This?
For those of you in or who are families members does anyone else feel insulted by the fact that our government is able to come up w/ $25 million dollars for Libyan rebels? Yet less than 2 weeks ago they couldn't get along and were threatening not to pay our service members. I find this whole situation very offensive. I don't know about anyone else but my husband has sacrificed a lot being in the Army for the past 14+yrs. We spent years living paycheck to paycheck on low enlisted wages. Now that he's a Warrant we are able to live well and put something away thanks to our wise spending habits & a bit of thriftyness on my part. Now the government has mismanaged tax payers money and they want to waste even more of it. Shame on them. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

It the globalists plan for One World Government. In order to bring "Equality" to the world America must be taken down to the level of the rest. The rest can not be brought up to equality with us.
Fight the NWO!

I do not recall any argument in Congress that focused solely on the payment of the troops, and denying them pay. It was about a budget deal as a whole. That has been settled, and now Congress is continuing on as if it didn't happen. Why? Because it didn't happen. The government shutdown was averted.
And, even if it happened, and the troops went without pay, once a deal was reached and the government shutdown was over, they would have paid them backpay for the time that they did not get paid. That's how it was done in past shutdowns (this was not the first) and it would be very foolish for them not to do the same in future shutdowns.

I was recently told I have family in the Philippines; the military forgot they were.
THAT was from 1942.
So, you could say things happen and you should feel lucky. Cause they haven't forgotten YOU for over 50 years !
Wise up. With money tight nobody is caring about bronze star recipients from two wars ago. I KNOW.
Who do I feel sorry for? You, I have, or had, kids too. I had wives. I have allot less feeling since being shot in the head six times, but I have feelings.
I don't have a paycheck. The ex arranged for a give away of my health care settlement, then sued me for divorce. The Florida town that awarded me 23 million in a law suit, said to a bankruptcy court they didn't feel like paying and the judge said they could leave me literally building an orphanage in Kampuchea surrounded by communists I'd borrowed loans from on that money from Florida.
Ever get left in a Kampuchea jail? It's not pleasant.
But the State of Maine ~ they have a "legal right" to insist on Child Support, while withholding ALL benefits from the National Guard Service, cause hey, I signed a bit of paper, with severe brain injury, and battlefield organ transplants with tissue rejection issues...
The wife, being an RN, must have figured no insurance would help with this.
But it isn't murder.
Really, it's for the "good of the kids".
No, you need to take responsibility for yourself.
And your sex needs to stop knee jerk granting of power to judicial with a track record of abuses of power.

i do no longer understand why the French President has no longer invited the Queen to the D-Day Anniversary. is this a planned snub, or does the President in simple terms assume the Queen to attend, with out invitation? How could desire to he have allowed such an oversight? The Queen and her mom and dad lived at Buckingham Palace during the conflict, in spite of tension from Parliament for the kin to stay at Balmoral. The Palace became hit two times via bombs. The Queen's mom and dad have been frequently considered in London traveling the bomb sites and chatting with the folk. And the Queen herself served interior the conflict attempt.

You're incorrect. They would've been paid as all federal employee's who were deemed "essential" to the immediate welfare of people and security were required to work. The unpaid amount would've caught up to them when the gov reopened during the next pay cycle.
I'm a fed worker myself who served in the Navy. I think it's horrible how, because a greatly misleading article from USA Today, that our salaries and benefits are now under attack. People say we're over paid. I say bullsh!t! When I started for Uncle Sam in '02, NO ONE wanted to work for him because "they didn't pay enough" or "I can make MORE money in the PRIVATE sector." I recently changed agencies and my old position still remains unfilled after 2 yrs because, even in this economy, they can't find anyone willing to take the pay CUT to work there. Very ironic. I'm an engineer.
Then they elected a pres who flat out stated he was going to spend money. We did everything that was asked of us. Me and many of my coworkers cancelled vacations and stayed late to ensure that the work got done. Now, after doing what was asked by a pres that you (meaning the U.S.) elected, you slap us in the face by freezing COLA's and now have an EXTREEMLY hostile House pulling at the leash to screw us even more.
Let me tell you whats going to happen. People are going to leave. Big deal, right? Ok. When they leave, they'll be rehired as contractors for 50% more. I'm already seeing it. Newer people out of college, who will cost less to hire, will not see any benefit to working for the Gov if they think their pay is going to be cut. No new talent to replace the outgoing engineers and scientists. Yes, you need them Trust me. Also, gov workers, who are usually pretty generous will contribute less to charity. Already seeing that. http://www.federaltimes.com/article/20110420/AGENC... I know if my pay gets cut anymore, I won't be leaving any tips in districts that have reps who voted for it. I’ll tell the servers that they can thank their rep for the tip. It's what they voted for. I will not be able to support local businesses anymore as I have to go online to look for better deals. Loss of income for those people. My donations to charity will have to drop as well.
Do we have some deadweight? Sure. No doubt. BUT no more than in the private sector which I’ve worked in as well.

Its not that they couldn't come up with the money to pay us, they were arguing over the allocation of the money. Now that it has been decided, everything just goes back to normal. There is nothing to be insulted about. The money was always there.
It's kind of like arguing if you should buy 6 apples and 4 oranges or 5 apples and 5 oranges with $5. The money to buy the fruit was there the whole time.
Being angry about them having to argue, that is valid though.
