where did Jesus go after he died?

To where the souls were who were waiting for Jesus to open the doors of heaven which were closed until Jesus was crucufied

He went to Hades/Sheol in the Abyss (Underworld: Romans 10:7) in the top compartment called Paradise (Luke 23:43). The prison in 1 Peter is the lower compartment, the Infernal Torment.

Before Jesus died, there was a place where people awaited his resurrection, but they themselves had died before Jesus did. He ministered to them in that place which is called Abraham's bosom, That is where the believers of Jesus waited for him when they died before Jesus was crucified. Jesus then took them up to heaven. That is why the earth shook. Because satan was mad that the entire prophecy of the crucifixion had been finished and completed.

Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

He was buried by Joseph of Arimathea. He rose on the third day, stayed around for about 40, and then ascended into heaven where he sits at the right hand of the Father God.

His spirit went to Sheol. Not hell because hell is a future place. He went to the paradise side.

Then he preached the gospel to people who went to the other side of sheol becausw if you were guilty of one part of the Law you were guilty of all the law.

days and take the key state of

death and freed all people from

the shackles of sin.

You know about all those people who died from the time of Adam to Christ? That's where He went. He was preaching to them before He was resurrected so physical death can be broken.
