Thoughts on this boy name (please read details)?

Question

I've recently really liked the name Bender for a boy. No, it is not a legitimate first name, but hear me out -- since names like Hunter, Fisher & Colter are becoming more and more popular, I see where this one could work, too. I originally heard it on Judd Nelson's character in The Breakfast Club, and although it was his last name, it's what he was called the majority of the time. I already love surnames as first names on boys, so this one's been on my mind.

NOTE: I'm not pregnant and will not be expecting anytime soon. Just a name collector for now.

I really don't think it's a good choice as a name. A bender in NZ is when you go and get absolutely drunk out of your mind, I don't know if it's the same anywhere else. I think Bennett, Benjamin or Benson would be much better choices.

I don't think Bender's a good idea. Bender is a term colloquially used to describe a drinking spree, or a homosexual man. I don't really think you'll want to attach that stigma to your child.

Bennet, Benjamin, Bentley, Benson and Benton would all be better choices in my opinion.

You know its not THAT bad, but i definately would not choose that for my first choice of name.
Perhaps Bentley? thats such a cute name and its close to Bender and its also unique! Or Hawthorne is adorable, plus its a surname/first name too! good luck for ur future kid or whatever! :)
