Mormons aren't Christian. Agree?!?

I have Mormon friends at school that claim to be christian but they are obviously not. Both Mormons and Jehovah's witnesses say "god has corrected the christian church through us". Of course that's not a correct quote but that's basically it. They say the gospel was perverted and distorted directly after the apostles died. Now where does the bible say this will happen? It doesnt. Research this. If possible, try to prove me wrong with non-debatable scripture that states something directly and plainly. If you can't I suggest you follow this link- http://www.carm.org/

    Nope... I don't agree...

They follow Jesus... just because they don't do it in the way YOU think it should be doesn't matter. There are those that wouldn't accept your way either...

All you're doing is another version of how many angels can dance on the head of a pin...

Such are the vagaries of religion...

A falling away, the gospel being perverted and distorted, it's in the bible, in Mathew chapter 24 Jesus Himself taught, there will be false prophets and false priests and false Christs. Paul taught it in several of his epistles. He taught that there must be a falling away. Amos taught that "surely God will do nothing but he reveal his secrets to his servants the prophets". Mormons are the only ones who even claim to have a prophet, does every other Christian church not believe what Amos wrote in the Bible or do they believe that God will do nothing? Without even proving Mormonism true or false the mere existence of the argument is enough to prove that apostasy has occurred.

The Mormons are not alone in the belief that there has been a falling away. They aren't just joined by the Jehovah's witnesses in this belief. It is the central premise of protestantism. The 7th day adventists believe it, the Anglicans believe it, the Methodists believe it, the Lutherans believe it, the Baptists believe it. The only churches that do not believe that some reform or re-establishment of the church Jesus established is the Catholics and the Eastern Orthodox churches who claim to be the original churches who got their authority from the apostle Peter, and neither of them have apostles.

You can't discount Mormons for believing what Paul and even Christ taught about apostasy without also declaring every protestant, reformist, and restorationist, and in short every non-Catholic from also being Christian.

I bet if you were to go to your Mormon friends at school and say you heard that Mormons don't believe that Jesus is the Son of God they would be surprised and and amazed and offended at your ignorance because they do believe he is the Son of God. They believe he was born of the virgin Mary. That he suffered and died for their sins. That three days after he rose from the dead. His apostles saw him, felt the prints of the nails in his hands and feet, ate with him. The central premise of the Book of Mormon is that Christ is the Son of God and that salvation is by him and through him and of him, that there is "no other name or way under heaven whereby man can be saved". If that isn't Christian then I'm afraid the English language is a failed experiment.

We "Mormons" are actually members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and we testify that Jesus Christ restored the Church to the earth and directs it Himself through continuing revelation to His living prophets and apostles. He also guides the lives of faithful members through personal revelations by the Holy Ghost. We believe not only in faith and grace, but in doing the will of God by keeping His commandments (some here call that "works," but to us we are only obeying God's laws, just as the Bible says you should). The Church is here to help the Savior prepare the world for His Second Coming. This is about as Christian as Christian gets.

    Consider these two comparisons.

    1. Jesus said "And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come." (Matthew 24:14) While it is commendable that Mormons engage in the ministry, they only do it for 2 years. Jesus never gave his followers a time table per person. He told them to preach the good news and to make disciples as long as humanly possible. (Matthew 28:19,20) Jehovah's Witnesses do not place time tables on our ministry.

    2. It is a well known fact that Mormons believe the Book of Mormon is on par with, and in many cases, supersedes the Bible. But what does the bible say?

(Romans 15:4) For all the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17) All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

The Bible is God's Word and is truth. (2 Tim. 3:16, 17; 2 Pet. 1:20, 21; John 17:17) It is the definitive source for everything and is more reliable than tradition. (Matt. 15:3; Col. 2:8) For this reason Jehovah's Witnesses strictly adhere to the Bible as the source for all our beliefs.

Are all Christians mormons then? If Christians don't believe in anything within mormonism, does that still make us mormons? How would they like it if we all called ourselves mormons and still believed in the trinity, Joseph Smith was no prophet but a certifiable conman, no bible believing church is an abomination before God, and no one who rejects God goes to heaven? Its the same thing as mormons claiming they are Christian. Not.

Mormonism is a parallel religion, with their own gods and goddesses, their own heavens, their own messiah with his own evil brother as adversary--their own rules. Sand. Christianity believes in the Jesus Christ of the Bible instead.

Speaking of the Bible, mormons say they base their faith on it while stating it can't be quite trusted. How can they base their faith on something they are told they can't quite trust? Therefore they can't quite trust in the Biblical God. Which is why Smith invented his own more palatable version to service his new religion of excitement. Christians trust the Word of God, therefore they trust in the God of the Bible to base their sureness of faith upon. Not sand. Upon "The Rock".

Source(s): ... 1 Corinthians 10:4 "...and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ." Isaiah 26:4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

If they see themselves as Christian but don't meet your standard of Christian ,why is it even an issue for you.

    Live and let live.

If they believe the Gospel was perverted, then you need to respect that.

Learn what they believe with true sincerity and respect, while your friend should do the same thing.

Being open to hear what your friend believes to gain knowledge, is the higher road. She should hear what you believe and respect your beliefs.

When did religion become a contest of who is better.

Jesus and the apostles taught repeatedly that false prophets would come and lead the people astray. How could you miss that? Today there are thousands of false prophets pretending authority from God, who don't even believe in revelation. How does one get authority from God without revelation?

"And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron."

    Hebrews 5:4

"For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect."

    Mark 13:22

"And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many."

    Matthew 24:11

"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."

    1 John 4:1

"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction."

    2 Peter 2:1

"For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock."

    Acts 20:29

"But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived."

    2 Timothy 3:13

"For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple."

    Romans 16:18

No one preaches for money in the Mormon church. The prophets are called of God, by prophecy and by the laying on of hands. It is the latter-day restoration prophesied by Paul.

Think of this.... Protestant religions say they are the correction for the catholic beliefs.

The bible does teach that truth would be revealed in the last days. What you need to do is find out what the truth of the bible is.

anyone who believes that the only way humans are saved is only because of Jesus's sacrifice, and has put their faith in God and regarded Jesus as the Son of God, is a christian. the majority of mormons believe that salvation comes from not only Jesus's sacrifice but also through your own works, so the majority of mormons are not christians. also, Christians believe in the Hebrew God of the Bible, and lots of Mormons have added their own holy book(s) and only believe some of the Bible, so therefore they do not worship the same God that the Christians worship.

I have no clue, but one thing is for sure my store director was a mormon and he always gave me hell. He was not very friendly at all and he was so fake towards employees, but nice to customers. He definitely did not represent a Christian if he was.
