89 Toyota Camry, SE, LE, LX or XLE, or something else?

So I don't know which my car is, and I need to know to have my CV Axel replaced. There is nothing on the car which specifies, the manual is for all of the models for that year, and my registration doesn't specify either.

Help! How can I tell the difference?

the manual will show the same procedures for both. over a range of years as well. as is the case. but parts are not necessarily interchangeable.

    looking at the parts catalog,

the 4cyl and the V6 has different cv joints/shafts. within that, there are two options. with or w/o ABS.

so for this vehicle, the cv (constant velocity) joints/shafts are typical to engine size. not trim level. ABS is also a factor. **i would confirm, from any vendor, if the transmission type may also be a factor.

your registration should reflect 4 or 6 cylinder gasoline.

    should have a 3S-FE 2.0 4cyl or 2VZ-FE 2.5 V6. and auto trans or manual.

if you don't have DLX or LE on the body somewhere, you likely have the base model with the 4cyl only.

should be an emissions sticker under the hood somewhere. tells you the engine. but you can count your spark plugs. four would be the 3S-FE 4cyl. 6 plugs is a 2VZ-FE V6. then you need to know if you have ABS (antilock braking system).

the style should be coded into the serial number of the car, so it can be determined,

but I would think the undercarriage parts are all the same, no matter the trim style.

As "proof" - does the manual show and describe different CV axels, or just one?

    Source(s): best guess; owned a 93 corolla.
