Christians, does it embarrass you that your own children are afraid to tell you they're atheists?

I feel sorry for the kids on here who constantly ask how to tell their religious parents that they don't believe in God, and sad that the best advice for them is to lay low and avoid the probable haranguing and backlash from their parents.

Update:

@clusium1971 - I'm not sure that it's the same situation for the child of an atheist as it is for the child of an evangelical Christian.

Update 2:

@meaeh - You're being a bit self-rigteous, don't you think? Why do you think atheists can't find anything to believe in just because they don't believe in God?

Update 3:

@maeah - Sorry I got your name wrong.

Update 4:

@happy_catholic_mom - You're right - I'm engaging in a gross generalization, but I can't help noticing you also avoided answering the question. I have no doubt you actually understood its intent.

Update 5:

@Sally - Does that include to hate homosexuals, Jews and Muslims?

Well, Tadpole can't walk yet, so I'm sure she still is one. She'll be comfortable telling me anything, I'm sure.

Wonderful question. Too bad you won't get anything but adhoms from the drones.

I am pushing a wave of discernment, that perhaps you would like to join.

It's my opinion that we are in the process of a theocratic overthrow, of all secular governments.

Keeping the sharpest kids from imploding is paramount, to decrease the severity of the long term damage underway. If the non believer meme becomes discernment between the mere harmless theist, and the sociopathic theocrat, we will have much more to offer children who see through their indoctrination, and will have to disappoint their parents, or join the hive mind. IMO, there has only been the one answer of knuckling under, because the majority of we doing the advising are not doing the discerning ourselves, thus cannot teach the young to define whether their parents are out of their mind theocrats, or merely compliant with what they believe is the social norm. We do need to offer them more choices of conduct, and that is dependent upon what delusion set, and the degree of it, that they are dealing with.

So if they are so afraid to tell us, then we don't know about it, and so we can't be embarrassed! Or are you telling all of us Christians that ALL of our children are afraid to tell us they are and you're just warning us because you know and we don't? Thanks for the heads up, I'll make sure the priest knows so he can tell all the parents at mass that all our kids are atheists:)

I didn't avoid it. You made a comment that all Christians have children that hate being Christian and stated that all Christians hate Jews, Muslims and homosexuals. What answer were you looking for that you would even accept??? If I said my kids understand our religion and accept it as true you wouldn't believe me anyway.

Well when you think of the implications from the belief system it's no wonder! You want what is best for you children, you want your children to have truth.

How would it feel to hear your child say that where going to be missionaries, give thier complete lives to Jesus and go to the Middle East to tell people about Jesus and even risk their lives.

As a parent you might be concerned thinking your child is not making the best decision, from your point of view. So whats the difference?

Yeah that is bad advice. A parent might not like it but they always want to hear the truth from their children. Now some parents dont go about it the right way but they still want to know. Laying low is never a good idea, open communication is.

Well, does it embarrass atheists if their own children are afraid to tell them that they are Christian or some other religious belief?

Oh please, children hide all kinds of things from their parents. Does it embarrass a parent of a drug user that her kid hides it from him? You may not agree with Christian parents, but you have no right to be so judgmental about it. It's their right to teach their kids whatever they want!

Athiests, does it embarrass you that your very existence is totally by chance and that you have no purpose in life other than to propagate the species?

If our children can no longer find anything to believe in... something good and ethical... then it goes to show just how rotten our societies are becoming.

Back when I was atheist, (when I rejected God) I was too embarrassed to tell my parents.
