What is the difference between Phase 2 & Phase 3 of the South Beach Diet?
Phase 3 is supposed to be much more lieniant than Phase 2, but I it seems like it is basically the same foods and the same number of servings.

Rather than go into a lengthy explanation, I think you should visit this forum. It has been an extremely helpful tool on my South Beach journey (I've lost 19 pounds). I'm on phase 2, which you stay on until your goal weight is reached, and then phase 3 is maintenance. You use your food knowledge to maintain your weight but you can be less strict as long as you monitor your weight and make sure you don't gain. You'll be using the same principles that you learned though. South Beach is a lifestyle change and on phase 3 you know your body well enough to know how much and what you can eat without gaining.
The forum is so wonderful! The book is also a great source. You should really read the whole thing before you start (or even if you have started, read it!) so you can understand what you're doing and make it more of a lifestyle change than a diet (b/c diets are always short lived).
