Two very different places. Jacksonville very navy oriented - Fort Lauderdale more touristy. It would all depend on what you really like. I certainly would not pick one without a prolonged visit and a study of all aspects including housing prices I know quite well both cities. If I had to make a choice I would pick Jacksonville.

NO contest here.....Jacksonville blows Fort Lauderdale out of the water.I have been to both.
