Atheists: Do you agree that this is the central irony of Christianity?

Christians claim all of human suffering comes from having eaten of the tree of knowledge, but rail against scientific inquiry because they prefer the blissful ignorance of faith (yes, I know that's a gross generalization, but I'm trying to make a point, here.) Is this ironic? If so, is it the central irony of Christianity? If not, what is?

I certainly agree that this is ironic. If it isn't the central irony, then the vengeance of a loving God is the the central irony. Take your pick. They both seem to contradict reason.

Um Christianity doesn`t teach human suffering comes from eating from a tree of knowledge, it teaches human suffering comes from disobedience, they ate from the tree which they were not allowed to and were punished for there disobedience, not casue they ate from a tree, the importent thing is there disobedience and then trying to hid there disobedience by blaming others.

think of it as a mother telles her son not to eat cookies before dinner, the son eats the cookes when he thinks his mother is not looking. His mother walks in and sees crumbs all over his face and some of the cookies missing, she askes him where they went and he blams his little brother. He is sent to his room with out dinner, his punishment was due to eating a cookie but becasue he disobayed his mother and tried to hide it.

If i had to name a cental irony of christianity is that its followers teach that they follow the word of God to the dot, yet they celebrate christmas and easter both pagen holidays. The bible says not to do pagan things, so any irony you find about christiany has little to do with the bible and all to do with the ignorance or lack of care many christans have when it comes to what the bible actully says as they rather accept traditons.
