Yes because I suffer from both. Self esteem is a part of how I feel, but I wouldn't label it as part of who I am. I don't ever want my eating disorder to be my identity.
The TV shows are mostly stupid no offense. They glamourize things, and feed into a lot of stereotypes. They should focus more on awareness, I feel like a lot of it just promotes eating disorders. People tend to overlook the mental aspects of it, and focus on the fact that it supposedly makes you thin.

I work in a psychiatric hospital and am 23. There is a serious miss understanding when it omes to teen and you adults having mental illness. Yes eating disorders may be caused by exagerated body images of perfection but its also a mental illness that has been developped and requires serious treatments. Working in thé field has simply made me more interested in it and more involved, but its sad many still think " you should stop thinking about perfection! You're sick and killing yourself!" its WAAAAYYYY more omplicated than just working this person's self confidence. Imagine OCD... Its not because you love everything t be perfect that saying its not important will hange something because its unconsciously done. (obsessive ompulsive disorder)

I find eating disorders a very interesting and important topic - so much so that I have even done speeches on the subject to large audiences (in 14 btw.)

I like psychology, so yes I find them interesting topics.
Yes self esteem is a very big part of my idenity, but I don't judge those who have E.D's or mental health issues, because myself and people I'm close to have been through both.
