Why do employers give so much eye contact?

I've had several job interviews in the past couple days.

Something I noticed about all them: They NEVER take off eye contact. I understand eye contact when talking, but each one of these people had their eyes on me like it was on their lives.

Why?

It makes me really uncomfortable and nervous, even though during a job interview, you're supposed to be relaxed?

They are paying attention to you, and they want you to look them in the eye also. They want someone who is comfortable talking to people. Also, if you have rather large chests, they might be careful not to appear to be staring at them. Safer to look at eyes.
