Did Jesus and his apostles preach from door to door?
If you say no then please explain these scriptures.
Matthew 10: 7, 11-14-“Into whatever city or village YOU enter, search out who in it is deserving, and stay there until YOU leave. 12 When YOU are entering into the house, greet the household; 13 and if the house is deserving, let the peace YOU wish it come upon it; but if it is not deserving, let the peace from YOU return upon YOU. 14 Wherever anyone does not take YOU in or listen to YOUR words, on going out of that house or that city shake the dust off YOUR feet."
Acts 5:40-42- "At this they gave heed to him, and they summoned the apostles, flogged them, and ordered them to stop speaking upon the basis of Jesus’ name, and let them go. 41 These, therefore, went their way from before the San′he‧drin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy to be dishonored in behalf of his name. 42 And every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus."
Acts 20:18-20-"When they got to him he said to them: “YOU well know how from the first day that I stepped into the [district of] Asia I was with you the whole time, 19 slaving for the Lord with the greatest lowliness of mind and tears and trials that befell me by the plots of the Jews; 20 while I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from house to house."
If you say yes then why aren't more doing it. Didn't Jesus commission his true disciples to preach?
(Matthew 28:19,20)

Oh Yes They Did. Jesus instructed his followers to.... (Matthew 10:11-15) (Luke 9:2-4) Even at businesses, (Matthew 9:9-12) And why?? (Matthew 24:14) (Luke 10:1-7) His followers obeyed. (Acts 5:41, 42) (Acts 20:17-21) Jesus didn't just wait for people to come to him, he went to them also. How well received do you think preaching in the streets and from mountain tops would be received today?

They met from house to house. Acts 5:42 That was their church meeting. But they also went into the meeting places, synagogues and town squares proclaiming the kingdom of heaven and the gospel of Christ. If people didn't want to hear it, they could walk away. The first century apostles did not go door to door like Mormons or Jehovah witnesses. House to house is how Christians met because if they stayed in one place too long the Romans would rout them. Think about it, if the Romans were trying to stamp out Christianity, do you think going out publicly door to door pissing off non-believers would be a wise method to keep a low profile? If they did, then it's even more of a miracle that Christianity is still alive and well.
