How do I tell who has accessed my WiFi and what sites they went to?

I'd like my Wireless router set w/ low security so it's easy for me to connect to. How do I tell if anyone else is connecting? How do I tell what they're doing when connected?

You can log into the router's configuration page at any time and look at the "DHCP Table" or "DHCP Client Table," which will list each IP address connected to your computer, and the MAC address (a unique identifier associated with their wireless card or hardware), as well as a computer name if one is assigned. Keep in mind this won't always be enough info to figure out who or where the accessing computer is.

There are paid programs and services you can configure to track actual net usage (what sites are visited, etc.) on your network. One of these services is "OpenDNS" which is linked in sources.

As Powerman mentioned, MAC Filtering can also be a good way to have low connection security but still keep unauthorized people out of your network. That makes it so that only MAC Addresses (those unique IDs we mentioned earlier) you enter can use the network.

The brands of routers you get at big box stores do not have the ability to record all websites visited I recommend you increase your security. You can also use the MAC filtering setting. This allows only the computers or other devices that you use to access your router.

hi, vulnerable WiFi sign rather skill you have a "vulnerable" "sign" " no longer something in any respect to do with human beings sharing a line. It basically skill precisely what it says you have a vulnerable sign. like while staring at television if your aerial is contained in the incorrect place you get a vulnerable sign. so which you're no longer connecting to the router at it rather is optimal velocity. If it rather is totally vulnerable and you're right down to assert a 1Meg connection to your router then something which you do can basically flow on the fee you hook up with your router as an test, plug in with the help of a community cable... if it is going speedier then it rather is down to your on the spot connection and you ought to the two get your on the spot router out of the cabinet, take a seat nearer to it or get yet another on the spot router piggy subsidized from the 1st one nearer to your place.
