How do Christians feel about the pervasiveness of halal meat in UK supermarkets?

Have we reached the point where it is simply not possible to assume that any meat sold in our supermarkets (except Kosher meat and pork) has not been the subject of a dedication to Allah? Can anything be done to reverse the trend of accommodating the wishes of the Islamic minority in our country, blatantly ignoring the convictions of Christians? http://www.realchristianity.org/Why,%20as%20Christ...

Update:

Slugsie, Christians are taught in the Bible not to eat food offered to idols. I don't intend any offence to Muslims, but this is understood to include foods offered to any god other than the God of the Bible.

Halal meat could be banned by the EU soon according to the RSPCA, I must say at least the EU got this one right. Most real British would consider it more efficient to ban the ever expanding UK Muslim presence in what was once our country

If we live by the bible then we should only eat kosher meat. The bible insists that the blood of the animal is not eaten. It also insists that we dont eat pork.

Although we are told that Peter had a dream that allowed us to eat anything, I dont see how something that is considered filthy before the dream has now become clean. It doesent ring true that the laws of phsics (laws of God) can change overnight.

As an Atheist I am none to happy about the pervasiveness of halal meat in supermarkets. Not sure why Christians should be any more upset?

who cares whether its halal or not

    its still meat!

i think consumers should have a say and choose the meat themselves.

halal foos is the same meat its just we dont shoot animals like that, we cut them from the throat and say a prayer for them that shows respect and we say a prayer for them so that they go to heaven.

i dont see why thats bad? is it seriously bad if you pray for an animal to go to heaven and show respect for animal then just shooting it?

I am not religious, and this angers me greatly. Consumers have a right to know about the source of their food.

Do you know that the word Allah is just a title, an Arabic word meaning God? Idol worshipers in Arab use the word Allah to refer to their idols. Christians in Arab use the word Allah to refer to Jesus. It is used Arabic Bibles as well.

Regarding shahada in your link, in my belief it is shirk, associating allah (Muhammad) with Allah, idolatry. How many Muslims feel closer to man (Muhammad) than to God? If Christians had a shahada associating Paul, Peter, or Mary with Jesus, it was also idolatry.

I believe that the solution to halal meat is to reconcile Muslims to Jesus.

    1) Make sure Muslims obey Allah to read the Bible, His only sealed Book. “Say, ‘We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you (in the Bible); Our Allah and your Allah (of the Bible) is one; and it is to Him we bow’” (Quran 29:46. See also 10:64, also 6:34). “If thou wert in doubt as to what We have revealed unto thee (in the Quran), then ask those who have been reading the Bible from before thee” (Quran 10:94). Quran 33:40 calls Muhammad as “A Seal of the Prophets (Bible), not “the Seal of the Prophets” and thus not the last prophet as many Muslims mistakenly conjecture. The Bible is also called the Prophets because its 66 books were written by 40 prophets of God, just as the Hebrew Bible is also called the Laws and the Prophets.

    2) Help Muslims to know that Allah rRahman is Jesus. Historically “This formula – Bimillahi rrahmani rraheem – is of Jewish origin. It was in the first instance taught to the Koreish by Omayah of Taief the poet (one of the Hanyfs, Sprenger, i.76) who was a contemporary with, but somewhat older than, Muhammad, and who, during his mercantile journeys into Arabia Petraea and Syria, had made himself acquainted with the sacred books and doctrines of Jews and Christians (Kitab al-Aghani, 16, Delhi). Muhammad adopted and constantly used it, and it is prefixed to each Sura except the ninth” (1876 J.M.Rodwell “The Koran”). Syriac Christians at the time of Muhammad called Jesus as Rahmana (1902 H. Hirschfeld “New Researches into the Composition and Exegesis of the Quran). The Quran clearly proclaims that salvation is only through the Grace of God (Rahmanullah or Allah Ar-Rahman). “None shall have the power of intercession, but such a one as has received permission (or promise) from Ar-Rahman” (Quran 19:87). See also 17:110 25:59-60, 20:108-109, 19:18-21.

The Bible proclaims that we are saved by Rahman (Grace) through Jesus, not by our own works but as a gift, and transformed by Rahim (Mercy) through the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:4-8 NKJV, Eph 2:7-8). Truth and Rahman came through Jesus (John 1:17). Jesus is Ar-Rahman, and the Holy Spirit is Ar-Rahim. The Quran agrees with the Bible that intercession or salvation comes only through Jesus Ar-Rahman. We pray in the name of one Allah: the Father, the Most Gracious Son Jesus, and the Most Merciful Holy Spirit. Thus, according to the Quran and the Bible, salvation is only through Jesus.

    3) Help Muslims understand the Trinity. “His name is called The Word of God” (Rev 19:13). In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God. Jesus was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Jesus, and without Jesus, nothing was made that was made. … And Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:1-3, 14).

Quran 4:171 says, “Christ Jesus the son of Mary was an apostle of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from Him … Say not ‘three (Allah)’ desist … for Allah is one Allah.” (FYI: the word Trinity is not in the Quran, but cardinal 3 is). By good logic you, your word, and your spirit are one person and not three persons. Similarly, Allah the Father, His Word Jesus, and His Spirit are all divine, and yet these three are ONE Allah and not three Allah (1John 5:7). And there is none like Him
