Why didn't Robitussin DM make me trip?
Last night I went to Walmart and bought two 4oz bottles of Robitussin DM. The active ingredients were DXM and Guaifenesin. I lied to the clerk and convinced her that I was 18 (I'm a good liar). I drank one, and after about an hour it wasn't doing much. I was just starting to feel a little light-headed and whatnot, but that's about it. So I drank the other bottle. After another half hour, it starting taking major effect. I couldn't see straight, I had trouble walking (zombie walking, robot walking), and I was disoriented. I did calculations and found out each bottle contained 236mg of DXM, and since I drank two I had 472mg of DXM. I'm fairly lightweight (16 years old, 5"7, 150lbs). It got me extremely high, but yet I had no vivid hallucinations. Why didn't I trip?
Also, please don't give me a BS answer like "Drugs are bad, maybe you should get help. Blah blah blah." I may abuse substances, but at least I do it intelligently (if that makes sense xD)
@Mike: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that. I did have closed-eye visual hallucinations. Just not open-eye, which was what I wanted. I'll keep that Zicam Max in mind next time, too.

Hallucinations can be a side effect of Robitussin DM. However, since it is not a psychedelic drug, you could possibly drink a gallon of it and never trip. The side effect of hallucinations can occur within the limits of taking the regular dosage. These kinds of side effects only affect certain individuals. It can probably be compared to allergies. You might be able to eat strawberries by the tub full, but someone else can eat just one and go into anaphylactic shock and die. Here are the ingredients for the Robitussin DM and a description of what it is used for.
Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. It affects the signals in the brain that trigger cough reflex.
Guaifenesin is an expectorant. It helps loosen congestion in your chest and throat, making it easier to cough out through your mouth.
The combination of dextromethorphan and guaifenesin is used to treat cough and chest congestion caused by the common cold, infections, or allergies.
Dextromethorphan will not treat a cough that is caused by smoking, asthma, or emphysema.
Dextromethorphan and guaifenesin may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Quite frankly, I think you wasted your money.

MOST PEOPLE DONT TRIP
I have Experiance so listen.
When I did it I did even more and still didn't trip, it's classified as an hallucinagen but that doesn't mean you see weird things that aren't there. To Hallucinate means to not see things the way they are which is what you described.

jimmy dxm is a dissociative. It's not really psychedelic like that unless you take a very high dose. I've never had visuals, and my friends that I've done it with don't either.
what I love to do is lye down as still as possible and playing some really awesome sounding music and just lying very still... feels like your body is just flying around. Coolest feeling ever.

its not like acid, the hallucinations are different. you can really only see them when you close your eyes. next time try zicam max. its concentrated DXM and you only have to drink 1/2 oz. try to stay away from the extra ingredients like Guaifenesin too

Robotussin tripping is not intelligent whatsoever, it kills your kidneys dude. You wanna trip? Take shrooms or LSD. HAVE FUN!

Next time dxm with about 16 Benadryl. Yes benadryl does make you trip. when i did both i started talking to gnomes. it was awesome.
