How should I list my volunteer experience on my resume?

I'm trying to build my resume, and I am just wondering on where I should list my volunteer experience. Should I include it in my paid experience section, or in a separate section? For example, the years of my paid experience are from 2003-2007 and 2009-present with the same company. So I just listed the years together like that since they are at the same job. I went to school for while and didn't work at all, other than my volunteer experience from Jan. 2010-June 2010. My other paid job was for 3 mths. from Sept. 2007-Dec. 2007. So my question is should I list my volunteer experience in the middle of my 2 paid jobs because thats the order of the dates? Or should I just list my 2 paid jobs, and at the end list my volunteer experience. Most of my skills come from my volunteer experience that are relevant for the jobs that I want to apply for. It just seems weird to list my first job with the dates 2009-present, 2003-2007 (same job), and then list my 3 mth job in 2007, then have my volunteer at the end for 2010 since they want experience from most previous. Any help with this would be great. I appreciate any expertise in this area.

Since you have some paid work experience, you should list your volunteer experience, with dates you volunteered and a brief explanation of your duties, in a separate section.

Be sure to put down the dates that you were in school in your education section too. The hiring manager will figure out what you were doing and when.

Typically, volunteer jobs can go right in with paid jobs, structured the same way (title, dates, brief description, accomplishments). In addition, you should consider mentioning it in either your Objective or Professional Summary.

Volunteer work that is unrelated to your targeted position (but still makes you look good) can go under a heading such as Community Service at the end of the resume, and/or in your cover letter.

    I hope this helps :-)

Experience is an important factor while writing your resume.Recruiter gives more preference to experienced candidate. So mention your experience in your resume in accordance to date you work.

List your experience from latest to older order and also give brief explanation about your work like company name, your profile, date of joining etc

My resume goes name, contact info, objective, work experience, certifications, volunteer work, schooling, references, and ending statement. I put them in their own category because they are their own thing. I also don't put dates with volunteer experience, just employment dates.
