My Life Needs Changing; Where Do I Start?

I know my life needs changing for my own benefit. The path I'm on is not acceptable. I cannot continue being the me I am.

The trouble is that I don't know where to begin changing. I look at all the stuff there is out there, and it's overwhelming. There's so much to do, so much to know, and so much to experience. There is no time to just focus on one goal at a time, but when you start piling goals up it becomes impossible. Sometimes just two goals are difficult to achieve especially when I don't have a sense of purpose.

I can't develop my own guideline to life. I've tried.

Right now I'm an open book to anyone who wants to help. I'd say it all now, but I can't organize my thoughts and I'm just freaking myself out more and more.

Update:

Chicks In Yoga Pants: Hardy har har. I'm not looking for answers...just a kick in the rear. I was like you once. It sucked.

Update 2:

I feel that I've been going around with no goals for too long.

I'm just about 23, and I feel old.

Make small, achievable goals, so that you can constant experience the feeling of achievement. It is addictive.

Stop panicking for a start and stop confusing yourself. Just stop. The simple realization that the life you're living isn't for you is a pretty awesome concept in itself and needs adjusting to. Most people don't even get that far and carry on the conveyor belt to unhappiness, misery and an early death (if they're lucky). You, however, have got off that particular bus (or are seriously considering it) and you're wondering what to do next and who to be. You seem to have become overwhelmed with "self-improvement data" and are now stuck further in confusion than ever before. Drop it! You need to discover yourself first, get to know who you are before embarking on any kind of "improvement" regime. As long as you are not practicing any self-destructive behaviours, why not have NO goals at all for six months, drift around and allow yourself to BE YOU. You can only change yourself if you know yourself first.

You sound mature enough to know that time is not to be wasted. You also sound intelligent enough to figure out this question that your asking on your own. You just need someone that is going to be in your corner and support the decisions you make. Whether they be good or bad. Life is a learning experience. Learn from your mistakes. Make wiser decisions. Evolve. Surround yourself with positive people. Don't be lazy, and do not procrastinate.

I sorta feel the way you do, why don't you start of with the first goal thats most imporant and tackle it, then put the rest in order according to its importance.

You just have to stay on your time schedule.

I say you let the members of Yahoo Answers decide your fate for you. Whatever the masses agree on you must fully and whole heartily commit yourself to that goal/task
