If you step on a player's hockey stick is it a penalty, if it's deemed to be on purpose? What would the offic?

We were playing street hockey and buddy whiffed on a game tying shot cause he said his stick was stepped on for a second. It was right in front of the net and there must have been 6 bodies in the skirmish.

Not a penalty. It's called "finding open ice." If you're standing in a cluster of players, of course you're going to have a hard time shooting. Not only will your stick be stepped on and stuck, but your shot will get deflected.

The only time that "stomping" is a penalty is if it is done to a person. See: Bobby Ryan from this year's playoffs.
