Some Indians on some reservation do get small welfare checks from the government, but in general they do not get money. Of course there are the Casinos where some tribes set up their constitution so that the tribes would share in the profits and even in this there are few tribes that share the profits. Mostly the chiefs and tribal council keep all the money and throw the tribal members an occasional bone in the form of schools, clinics, hospitals and other segregated handouts. The profits are in the billions and the freebies are in the thousands and none of it is in actual cash. Only those Indians who know how to "work the system" prosper, the rest live on commodities.
