Temporarily dying black hair blue?

Hi guys, I'm just wandering if there is anyway of dying black hair temporarily blue? It's for a costume that we need to wear for a friend's party and I wanna try to do that...but I heard in order to dye black hair, you need to bleach it (which I really don't wanna do). So, would it be okay if I can get that temporary blue hair dye from Hot Topic or something (which is electric blue) and hope that it will show in my hair as a darker blue? Since I'm just trying to achieve a darker blue color.

Thanks.

Your hair won't be blue- Just tinted, which means it will be a bluish black, most probably not that noticeable.

At Hot Topic they have Manic Panic hair dyes, and they have Raw and Punky. Any of these don't last long, and will wash out within two weeks, over bleached hair.

If you were to bleach your hair, even to light brown or a dark yellow, the blue would show up. Then, to et it out, just wash your hair with dish soap to remove the dye. You could wash it three or four times to get it out. Then, just dye it back black.

Or you could get a wig, haha. They have blue ones out there that look decent and are not a lot of money.

Or, you can get that blue color hair spray. If you can't find it at Hot Topic, you can get it at any Walmart or drug store. Even a party store. It comes in a tin bottle and you just spray your hair with it. It will last until you wash it off. It's okay, but the results are not spectacular. But it will do, if you want to try it. Good luck hun!

You can use Kool-Aid for a temporary look but it won't show up much at all. You can use Manic Panic for a longer lasting look but it won't show up much more than Kool-Aid will. The only way to really have visibly blue hair is to bleach it. Manic Panic makes products for this, but ALL bleach damages your hair. Once you have bleached it, you can dye it blue with whatever method you like. (I don't recommend Splat brand, though - stains everything in the universe.) In order to get it back to your natural color, you have to either wash out the dye or rebleach your hair, then dye it black or as close to your natural color as you can get. Once your hair is bleached, it will stay that way permanently - when it grows out again it will be black, but in order to look even while it grows out you have to have it dyed black.

I think what you are asking (that others may not have gotten) is if there is a way to have the blue show in your black hair withOUT having to first bleack it blonde...because you want it to be temporary.

I would looking into manicpanic which will not harm your hair and is temporary, but if it doesnt show up there are always the spray in and wash out types like we used as a kid at halloween.

Tanner skin is better for blonde hair and paler skin is far better for black hair.
