What you think about Nvidia GTX 550 Ti ? Is it good for me ? URGENT !!?
Hi
I am planning to buy Nvidia GTX 550 Ti
I wanna play any game maxed out at 1440 x 900 only and my power supply is low 450 W but i think GTX 550 Ti needs only 400 W minimum :)
What you think,is this Nvidia GTX 550 Ti is best suitable in aspects of price, performance and quality ? for my resolution and maxed out settings ?
Please give comparative answers like by providing reviews, benchmarks (This is most important) or performance tests :)
Thanks a lot
Sorry but i wanna buy GTX 550 ti due to my budget.
I am happy with 30+ too, just let me know hows GTX 550 Ti nothing more...
And also my resolution is not HD its only 1440 x 900
GTX 580 SLI or GTX 590 is back breaking card built for 1920 x 1080 resolution to get 60+ fps
@Hemanth
Yesterday you gave me the same details and you have HD 6850 but as i said i have power supply only 450 W and i don't want to upgrade anything than my Graphics card so i decieded to go with GTX 550 Ti
But i am very eager about HD 6850 now.I will surely compare both and then will think which one to buy :)

The GTX 550Ti is a really good card, you can run most of the games at high and a few games that require powerful cards, at mid settings, no problem.
The GTX 550 Ti is best suitable in terms of Performance and Quality, but in terms of Price, the Radeon HD 6850 beats it easily, priced at the same range, it outperforms the GTX 550 Ti in every aspect, here's a comparison, between the GTX 550 Ti and the HD 6850

You can see that the HD 6850 is better, and the power supply should be enough.

you need a little more than a 550 to max out every game above 24fps at your resolution. You could jump back to the 460 1g from last generation or jump up to the 560 ti of this gen. The 550 is almost powerful enough but there will be noticeable studdering on demanding games at some times. It may be possible to close the gap with overclocking, but your already strained power supply probably won't handle it. For butter smooth (60+fps) push it as far as your budget will let you. You will need at least one 590 or two 580's to do this. A single 580 is just like the 550. its not quite powerful enough to reach 60fps, even at your resolution.
I also second the 6850

Hi mate
as the other answer stated the GTX550ti is a decent card that's capable of running the latest games at medium to high detail at 1440x900 .... and it requires a 450w or better psu with 1 x 6pin pci-e power connector
the HD6850 is better than the GTX550ti,however it requires a 500w psu and a 6pin pci-express power connector ....but in both cases you need a decent power supply and none of those cheap noname psu,s since these rarely deliver their rated power so a 500w psu will actually deliver 400w if your lucky, and you will also notice the +12v rails are unusually low ( which is a indication of its inferior build quality )
im using a GTX550ti on one of my systems and its running on a 21" monitor (1920x1080 resolution ) and combined with a core 2 duo E8400 I can run games such as crysis2 and far cry 2 at medium detail at 1920x1080 ... dropping the resolution to 1440x900 and this would increase to high quality
another factor to consider is your processor .... if your using a last generation processor such as a core 2 duo or a Pentium D then this will hold back the HD6850... so you would need a sandybridge/ivybridge cpu to really get the best out of the HD6850,however the GTX550ti would be ok with socket lga775 processors but anything older than that isn't recommended
so your best bet is the GTX550ti ( unless you get a more powerful psu and your using a core i5 or i7 and then I would recommend the HD6850) ...
I hope this helps ... any questions let me know
good luck mate !

GTX 550 Ti is a good card it is not really a best bang for buck.it can barely manage to beat Radeon HD 5770(3-5 fps Difference) and it is almost Rs.2000 expensive than the GTX 550 Ti.which is so close to superior Radeon HD 6850 and Geforce GTX 460.
Radeon HD 5770 is still great value for money.it is capable of handling most games on 1920x1080 and HIGH settings so it can easily handle games 1440x900 resolution and maximum settings.see the benchmarks here.

if you are really going to stick with 1440x900 resolution then HD 5770 is your best bet for Rs.7000.if you have any plans on upgrading your monitor(1920x1080) in future then I recommend HD 6850.however,500 watts of power supply is needed.HD 5770 minimum requires 450 watts so just make sure your power supply is quality one from brands like corsair, antec, silverstone, coolermaster, seasonic and provide dedicated 6 pin PCI-E connector.if it is cheap stock power supply then you need power supply upgrade.
