I bet I know more facts about cosmology than Mr. Hawking knows about the afterlife.

Maybe he's right, but there is no way he can prove it. As for creation, some form of Deity is as reasonable an explanation for anything existing as the one Hawking prefers - random fluctuations in a vacuum. I think maybe I like it better, in fact (pun alert!).

He is a highly intelligent man, and I certainly respect his views. I would say the same about C.S. Lewis, whose views are in direct opposition to his.
Don't you wonder how both these very bright people can be so sure of their positions?
