Jehovah's Witnesses: Why would Jehovah share his "glory" with the Christ?

Christ could do nothing without the power/will/permission of his Father. But then, goes around doing these things in "his own name." The name of Jesus Christ. How does this honor the Father/Jehovah when his name is not used in the works/miracles?

Isaiah 42:8~ I am the Lord/YHWH/Jehovah: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images."

If Jehovah is the name above every name according to the "the Lord's prayer" in Luke 11:2~ Hallowed be thy name. How is the Father glorified in the Son (John 14:13) when the asking is done in "the name of Jesus:" v13-14?

Matt. 18:20~ "For where two or three are gathered together in my name (Jesus) there am I in the midst of them."

Mark 16:17~ ..."In my name (Jesus) shall they cast out devils..."

And breaking the scripture in Isaiah 42:8, leaving the door wide open for theologians to say that Christ was equal to his Father in nature and substance? As if to say he (Jesus) had his own authority in and of himself? (In forgiveness of sins; Luke 5:24.)

How is this corrected in the paradox of scripture, without violating any one passage?

Update:

Silly Answer: And if the owner of the company delegated his authority to an employee, would this employee be using his "own name?' I think not. But the name of the owner of the company. And if Jehovah is the owner, WHY is he letting his employee (Christ) get all the credit by doing works/miracles in HIS OWN NAME?

And if Christ shares his glory with his disciples... Who's name is used? His, or theirs?

Update 2:

Bar-Anerges~ Thanks for pointing out the technicality: Jesus did his works with no name mentioned one way or the other. (Before giving his name to his disciples). As if by the power of his own spoken word. Your thoughts?

Update 3:

And who has sole ownership of the company called: "Eternal salvation?" That Christ purchased with his own blood. That we must come directly to him (Jesus) to receive of this store. (Acts 4:11-12)

Yes, we do. I take into account in Revelation bankruptcy 7 it talks approximately the exceptional crowd having palm branches of their fingers. What this indicates is that the exceptional crowd honor Jesus because the King of God's kingdom. Just as whilst Jesus rode into Jerusalem they recounted Jesus as king, we as Witnesses do the equal; Matthew 21:one million-eleven. We additionally honor Jesus once we retain within the paintings he began, preaching the well information of God's kingdom; Luke four:forty three Really it is well to honor righteous men and women.

Because Jesus has been given "All power in Heaven and on Earth". Jesus was the only "begotten" Son, He is not a "created" son. He is GOD'S SON.

Also, Jesus said to His Father ; "Glorify me with the Glory I had before the world was".

This indicates that Jesus Recognises that His Father's will, is that He IS Glorified.

Jesus is the Way for us here...We had better realize just how powerful His Father is before we start deciding how He chooses to Glorify His Son.

This is a glory that is only bestowed upon the Son of the Living God. It is the highest Glory, other than the Father's.

    "Kiss the Son"

Jesus also said; "Anything you ask ME in MY name, I will do it for you"...

Jw's removed the word "Me", very clever eh?

Jehovah's Witnesses will fight tooth and nail to diminish Jesus' Glory and Position. Christians recognize His Glory, and are in a mediated relationship with Him, as the JW's claim their anointed alone are.

The Glory Of Christ is who Yahweh has provided for us here on the earth, to have this relationship WITH the Glorified Son, so that we can have CERTAIN Confidence in His Father's promises.

I pray through Jesus by including Him in my prayers to His Father...Jesus is Alive in MY prayers.

Question: Why would Jehovah share his "glory" with the Christ?

Jehovah God does not abdicate his glorious position for anyone, not even Jesus, nor does Jesus or anyone else share in the glory of the unique position of Most High over the universe. (1 Corinthians 15:27)

In contrast, Jesus invites the saints to share his glory in joint-heirship. (See Romans 6:3-6; 8:17, 18; Col. 3:4; 1 John 3:2) Rather than finding the position of glory that Jehovah gives to Jesus as proof that Jesus is Jehovah, it rather proves that Jesus is not Jehovah of the old testament.

    Scripture: Luke 5:24

Matthew 9:8 "marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to men"

Luke attributes the source of Jesus’ power to the God of Jesus. The power of Jehovah was in him. This agrees with what Peter later stated, that “God anointed him with Holy Spirit and with power,” so that Jesus “went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” (Acts 2:38)

I am not a JW, but I will answer the question anyway.

God never shares His Glory! Just because one gets some recognition, and permission to perform certain functions, does not mean he is on the same level with God! It is silly to think it does.

We have owners of a company, who give certain employees certain privileges, even a vice president has authority and can give permission to do certain things (that the owner of the company put under his charge), so does that mean the vice president is the same as the owner? Is the employee of the month the same as the owner.

Do we really think things out when we ask silly questions?

    Greetings,

You are ignoring EVERY explicit statement regarding Christ's glory and misinterpreting the verses which show that *Christians* can ask for things in Christ’s name. The Bible does NOT say that Jesus did things “in his own name.”

Isaiah 42:8 and 48:11 actually disprove the idea that Jesus could be equal to Almighty God because they show that God would never share his glory equally with anyone. And Christ NEVER receives equal glory with Jehovah.

John specifically says that the glory Jesus has is only "the glory of an only-begotten son from a father," not the same glory as the eternal father (Jn.1:14). John says Christ had to be "given" his glory from God and he had this glory *alongside* the Father (Jn.17:3-5,24; 2Pt.1:17-18).

It is obvious that Jesus’ glory was not equal to Jehovah because Jn.17:22,24 says that Jesus gives his disciples the SAME GLORY that he received from the father:

"Also, I have given them the glory that you have given me, in order that they may be one just as we are one."

The disciples did NOT have equal glory with Christ, and neither does Jesus have glory equal to Jehovah. The "glory" here was the splendor as a spirit being which the disciples would also receive when they went to heaven to be with him.

The risen Christ is not Almighty God but is always portrayed as being elevated to the "right hand of GOD"--not just the Father (Mt.26:63-64; Ac 2:33; 5:31; 7:55-56; Heb.8:1-2, etc). Hebrews states that the elevated Christ is still a "servant" in the holy place! So he definitely does not have equal glory to his God.

Further showing that receiving glory alongside (with) God in heaven does not mean equal glory is the fact that Christians in heaven are also said to have God's glory as well as Christ's (1Thes.2:12; 2Thes.2:14; 1Pt. 5:10; 2Cor.3:18; Heb.12:10; Rev.21:11). Heavenly Christians will even "share in the divine nature" (2Pt. 1:4). Does this mean that these Christians will have *equal* glory with God? Obviously not, and neither would it mean that Christ shares equal glory with Almighty God.

The glory the ‘called ones' and Jesus Christ are given, comes from Jehovah God; it has its source in Him. However, the glory is not Jehovah's personal glory; He retains that.

Also, the glory Christ receives is not inherent in Jesus but was due to God's elevating him (Dan.7:13-14; Php. 2:9). Even in Christ's elevated and glorified state he still had to rely upon his God to subject things to him (Heb.2:8-9).

"The Father restored the Son, on his ascent into heaven, to that original place of glory of which he here speaks. That place will be universally acknowledged to be the right hand of God; the same therefore was his place of glory in the beginning, and from which he had descended. But the right hand of God primarily signifies a glory, not in the highest sense divine, but only next in dignity to God. So Jn.17:24. "that they may behold, my glory which thou hast given me; for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world." Besides, the fact that the glory which he had even in his divine nature before the foundation of the world, was not self-derived, but given by the love of the Father, plainly demonstrates him to be inferior to the Father. Nor is any difficulty created by Isa. 42:8. "I am Jehovah, that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images." For though the Son be "another" than the Father, God's meaning is merely that he will not give his glory to graven images and strange gods,—not that he will not give it to the son, who is the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upon whom he had promised that he would put his Spirit."—John Milton; On Christian Doctrine

Christ was not God Almighty and He will NEVER have the same glory nor position as Jehovah! At his highest position he will still be "subject" to God the same as we are "subject" to him (1Cor.15:27,28).

There is no question that, according to the Bible, Jesus occupies the highest position in heaven next to God. But this does not mean that Jesus should receive glory equal to Almighty God.

In Isaiah, the context is clearly dealing with Jehovah's True Supreme Godship as compared to false Gods and idols. Jehovah said that the glory he had would NOT be shared or given to these idols made of wood and stone. It was not said in reference to those who were properly called God's because of being God's representatives. Nor was it said in reference to Christians resurrected to heaven who would share God's glory and even the "divine nature."

Christ is NEVER placed on an equal level with Almighty God.

Even after his return to heaven the Bible speaks of Jesus having a God over him at least 17 times! (Jn.20:17; Rm.15:6; 1Cor.11:3; 2Cor.1:3; Eph.1:17; Heb.1:9; Rev.1:6; 3:2,12). It is illogical to believe that Christ could have equal glory with the One who is called his God.

    Yours,
