pruning a camilia tree/bush?

I think its a camilia, but its gone very tall approx 18ft, but the leaves n flowers dont start til after 6ft, what the chances if i cut it down to about 5ft, it will reshoot ? or will i kill it? It looks quite stupid now.

    If it were mine I'd not prune all of it at once, I'd do it in stages because the shock might be too much for the tree to recover. Take some of it down this year, when it's dormant, let it recover from that and do the next bit next year.

    Have you tried looking for camelia pruning advice from on-line gardening sites ?
