Is it the character THAT or the character WHO...?
Word is telling me it's THAT, but I thought a character was a person, and you should use WHO with people.
Another example of a character who is greatly affected by the setting he lives in is Bob.
(for the above sentence, is it WHO or THAT?)

It depends on the sentence you have made. Often, word is lame and disagrees with my grammar but when I KNOW it's right I ignore word. Paste your sentence and we'll give you a second opinion.
edit: I think in this case you should use THAT. If you used the word PERSON instead of CHARACTER then it would be WHO not THAT.
