Obama refuses to abide by the War Powers Act. Should he be impeached for it?

The War Powers Act of 1973 says that the president can use military force without congressional approval for up to 60 days in an emergency. But must go to congress after 60 days to get authorization to continue using military force. The not-a-war in Libya has been going for 60 days. Obama says he won't ask for congressional approval and will continue the war without it. This is a clear violation of law and an over reach of his constitutional authority. Should he be impeached for it? Can an impeachment be successful? What can be done to hold him accountable to the law?

Update:

The UN is not the Congress of the United States. The United States is not subordinate to the United Nations. The United States military is not a tool to be used at the discretion of the United Nations. only the Congress of the United States has authority to sent American troops into battle. UN resolutions are not binding law in the United States.

Update 2:

Congress voted to authorize the Iraq war. They didn't have to because it was a continuation of a war declared in 1991 that was only suspended by a cease fire agreement which Saddam Hussein had already violated. But despite that he went to congress anyway and got a second authorization. The Iraq war was legal, whether you agree with it or not. Congress was never consulted about using force in Libya. Who knows, they might have supported it if they had been asked. But by not asking, Obama violated the law.

The DEMONcrats in congress are pissed that he did not axe, but they are not pissed enough to kick him to the curb. and we would need about twenty of them in the senate to do it. I think we have a big enough majority in the House.

And for what? so we could have two years of President Biden? What in the heck is the difference?

We can dream however, and it does indeed conjure up images of a once again Great America!

It's more likely if Congress raises a fuss. Obama will take the War Powers Act to the Supreme Court.

It's more than likely they will strike War Powers act as unconstitutional instead of seeing Obama impeached

The UN does not have authority over the United States of America.

    It cannot "approve" a war.

The Congress has that right and that is a CONSTITUTIONAL right.

He has broken with the Constitution, and it is time to impeach him.

We are not at war with Libya and there are no American ground troops being used. All we have done is fire some missiles in support of Allied forces whose mission is to prevent Gadhafi from slaughtering any more of his own citizens.

Impeachment of our sitting president simply because some people cannot bring themselves to accept his legitimate authority has no chance of succeeding, as you should know.

Mr. Constitutional Law student knew it all along now didn't he. I'm sure they'll hold on to the "kinetic action" title as defense. Should he be impeached? Yes, but it's too late, the damage is done, and I bet there's more up his sleeve.

No, apparently it's perfectly fine to attack a sovereign nation because a bunch of international dictators said so.

If Obama is good at anything its getting around the law when it comes to what he wants but quick to hide behind it when confronted with his stupidity.
