This is just another reason our language is so rich. Depending on where you live, you use different words for objects, etc. Here in Missouri, we call them shopping carts. Perhaps in other parts of the country, a shopping buggy is perfectly accepted.
When we were in Australia, we rented a van and took off across the country. Of course, we needed a "cooler" for our drinks. We stopped in a store to buy one and they told us we needed to go to a liquor store. So we did. "Do you have a cooler?" we asked. "A cooler? Sure!" he answered, and he took us to the wine cooler section. "No! A COOLER!" we said again, "One that you put sodas, etc. inside to keep them cold." "OH!!!!!" he exclaimed, "You mean an ESKIE?"
Ahhh, the joys of the English language!

Two countries divided by a common language! In the UK we tend to call them shopping trolleys.
I thought 'buggy' was American English for a child's push chair. And In England a cart is a vehicle used for transporting goods or people, normally pulled by a horse, which is why we Brits say, 'Don't put the cart before the horse.'

I don't know. They are really called 'trolleys'. But it all depends on where you live.
btw I thought buggies were those little annoying buzzing things that attack you and give you bities.
(ps To Lovebook - It is called an ESKY.)
