What can I do legally?

My sisters ex boyfriend came to our house last night and my sister and him got into an argument. I then went to the door to tell him he needed to leave, he then hit me several times. I have marks, bruises and several knots on my head as well as a swollen finger. I didn't hit him back simply because he hit me by surprise and I had no time to defend myself. My sister called the police but her ex had already left. I filed a police report and I wanted to know if there was something more I can do. He isn't the type of guy that will just go away, also I wanted to know if I go to the hospital because of my injuries could I make him pay for it? I don't have medical insurance.

hell yea go to the hospital he will have to pay for it and track him down and call the police again. :)

There is definitely something more that you can do.  Go to your local guns & ammo store and buy yourself a nice .38 special, 9 mm or 45 and keep it in a safe place.  Next time that SOB shows up, pull out that piece and put him down.  Easy as goblin pie. 

Another option would be for you and your sister to both go to a local gym or dojo and get some self defense training.  If you both are trained in self defense combat, you will have no problem kicking his ***, and by this time his ego will be hurt so bad he will never show his face again.  

Another option would be to head to your local bar where the motorcycle gang hangs out.  Find the biggest, burliest man in there and ask him if he's good at kicking ***.  If he says yes then tell him the situation you are in (he will most likely be man enough to want to beat this low life to a pulp simply after hearing he hit a girl).  Have the punk meet up with you (while the big biker man waits alongside of you) and he will get what's coming to him.  

Another option would be to buy a dog, send him to K-9 training camp and use him as a guard dog. I guarantee if someone comes over and touches you that dog will go ape-sh&# on him and he won't return again.

File a restraining order.  Talk with a lawyer to learn any other steps that you can take.  The hard part is going to be when your sister begs you not to press charges.  Get that creep in jail.

go to the hospital and get your injuries checked out.....file for a restraining order against him, your injuries and the police report will help a GREAT deal.

You could see about a civil suit for the repayment of the medical bills, what did the police say they was going to do.........

You'd have to sue him in civil court to get your expenses paid for I think.

You and your sister should seek a restraining order against him.
