best pet water bottle that DOESN'T leak?
i am only looking for answers from experience, not assumptions. we have chinchillas and not only does our water bottle leak non stop, it just broke. so now we NEED to buy one right now, but i'd rather spend a good amount on one that will last and not leak than settle for a cheap one.
i am MOSTLY wanting one that doesn't ever leak. if it leaks a bit after they drink then stops, that is fine. but ours would leak every few minutes and their bedding underneath is always SOAKED under the bottle.
pictures would be helpful along with the brand and type. thanks!!

I use a Lixit brand water bottle for my chinchilla. Here's a link:

I have the one on the far right. It doesn't use the usual ball mechanism that most bottles use. It's like a little stick that let's out water when she licks it. I've never had a problem with this bottle leaking :)

It's not so much the bottle, but how you fill it and position it on the cage. You need to fill it up all the way and make sure it is tight against the cage. Most of the hangers that come with the bottles don't really help, an elastic band will be much more effective. One thing I do with the bottles I have is it press my finger against the ball before I turn it over (after filling) and shake all the air bubbles to the top. This prevents it from leaking when I put it on the cage.
As for brands, I have a Living World one that I have not had issues with in the year I have had it. I also have a Critter Canteen that works well but my rabbit seems to drink from the Living World one better. I really don't have much experience with other brands as I do prefer to use bowls for water.

Frankly, we buy cheap bottles from Walmart and have essentially no leakage problems. Leaks are almost always due to poor gasket/O-ring fit or elasticity. If the top is tight and the gasket elastic, no leaks. Otherwise, they leak like a sieve!
