Opinions on former Govenor of New Mexico Gary Johnson?

Update:

I really like both Gary Johnson and Ron Paul. Personally I feel that Ron Paul is less likely to win an election. Gary Johnson seems to appeal to a wider group with the ability to expand his appeal. I'd be happy with either though.

Update 2:

Thanks for the article Hank, it was interesting.

Definitely a more Libertarian-oriented Republican...he will probably have my support.

    Either him or Ron Paul.

Yeah I'd agree, Gary Johnson seems more popular. And of course people couldn't use his age as an excuse to write him off as "unelectable".

I like Johnson, but there's no way he, as a pro-choice deist with a liberal position on immigration, will get the Party's nomination, regardless of his fiscal conservative bona fides. He also came off a bit dainty in the debate.

Here's a good article on Johnson I read earlier:

Have not looked very deeply at him, but I have been impressed so far.

ADDED: If El Tecolote and Hank are right, there is NO WAY he gets my support in the primaries. We need a strong conservative who is tough on illegal immigration. I am pro-life, but that would come down the list of priorities in a candidate that I will vote for in the primary.

However, in the general, there is not one candidate or potential candidate for the republicans that I would not vote for over Ovomit. He MUST be a one-term president. We cannot have the worst president in history get re-elected.

Former doper who thinks ALL drugs, not just pot, should be legal. He was a horrible governor in NM, and he'll make an even worse President.
