Why are people so rude in the Wic office?
The lady I had to speak with at the WIC office was so rude... The doctor changed my baby's milk so I had to buy some until my Wic appointment for them to change her milk. The lady was so rude and told me I was commenting fraud because I went and bought milk. She said with a attitude if you dont need Wic why do you come..?Then she said just dont come! I told the lady I had to buy the milk while I was waiting for the doctor and the appointment..! I dont understand why this lady said any of that.. I had to buy the milk. my baby needed it... I just dont get it... Should I call and report her to her supervisor? And why would she tell me I was commenting fraud if I need the milk for my baby?

i think she was telling you fraud because you had the money to buy milk and you didn't use your wic checks. but it's not like wic supports you on everything grocery and food related that you need. i still have to buy more milk than i receive in wic.
i would definitely report her to the supervisor. she was probably upset because most of the people that receive wic are complete idiots and half of them don't speak english and take the wic program for granted. however, it is her job to be respectful and help everyone to the best of capability. i would have reported that woman in a second, and spoke with her office manager right there on the spot. no matter who you are and what you did or needed, there is absolutely no right for her to speak to you like that. please report her.

Two things come to mind.
First, there may be a part of this missing, if so, don't post it here, but think about it and why she said that. However, if you're not committing any type of fraud, then stand with confidence and speak to her supervisor.
Have you ever been to the DMV? Certain governmental agencies seem to require an attitude to work there. It sounds like your local WIC office is one of those.

Forgive me, I'm Canadian and although I'm familiar with the WIC program, I'm not familiar with the process. Is this worker assigned to your case that you have to talk to on a regular basis? Or is it just someone you got routed to?
If it's a specific person you MUST speak to, ask to speak to someone else, including yes, her superior. If it's just "luck of the draw" that you ended up with her that one time, forget about it, phone in again and talk to someone else. If the comment is made again by a different person, you have to ask them to explain to you exactly WHY they consider it fraud. Something's not right here. Either this person was having a bad day and unjustly took it out on you, or you really were in the wrong but it's something in the fine print somewhere. I've been guilty of stuff like this myself. Just give another call, the worst that can happen is that you talk to someone else who agrees with her and you ask to have things explained to you, calmly.

I kind of agree with K on this one...too much of the story missing to really offer advice. I mean how did she know you were buying the milk in the first place? Obviously that came up in a conversation somewhere. As for her comments...do they supply you with enough to last the whole month or do you often have to buy some too? If you don't often have to buy your own then they are probably figuring if you can afford to buy some like you did then you don't need the help...or as much help as you are getting.

Id report her. There's no reason she should be like that. Wic doesn't give you enough monthly anyways and you have to buy more anyways. It's only to supplement what you need in a month.

There is defiantly something missing from your story. WIC is a supplemental nutrition program, meaning we do not supply all the formula you will need for the month. If you are properly feeding your child you will need to buy some of your own formula. Your story doesn't make sense.

they are that way because they are miserable in thier own life. the good ones arent rude. and you are NOT commiting fraud to buy the milk your dr told you to. you had to have what you had to have. and wic is supposed to be a "supplement" to what your child needs not the all......

Some people are nuts, and you just encountered one lol. Not everybody at WIC is that way, unless whoever does the hiring likes her and hired a bunch of people just like her lol.

I would report her. My fiancee was laid off and we used it for a about 5 months before he found another job. They specifically told me that is doesn't cover everything. Meaning not all the formula you would need but, most of it.

I would call someone and complain. There is no reason for her to speak to you like that. Why would she be mad that you bought your own milk, what? Once? Twice? Big whoop! That does NOT mean that you don't need WIC! Formula is sooo expensive and buying it once or twice might not break you but ALL the time. Trust me I know how expensive it can get. It sounds like this lady doesn't have kids of her own and just doesn't know how much they need. Plus, does she expect you to just starve your baby? You didn't do anything wrong and don't deserve that kind of treatment. I would complain.
K- Do you TRY to upset people with your answers? It's working.
